Flat Top 200 Super VS. Parajet Rotron 294
Flat Top 200 SUPER vs Parajet Rotron Preliminary Testing!!
Well we finally got a good weather day for a side by side so I can determine if
the Rotron engine is worth it’s price tag and might be good enough to find a
place on a Flat Top. For sure the Parajet design is not the way to go as it lacks all the basic safety features like crumple zone, quick release harness, comfort bars to protect from a faceplanet, protection from the netting… So the plan was to see if it is worth putting this new engine on Flat Tops.
The 3 climb tests that were done with the two paramotors did show a slight advantage to the rotron engine, whether or not its worth the extra 10 pounds on the back is yet to be seen. It appears to burn more fuel than the flat top 200 super but does have a more appealing sound. We will continue to test this new ppg engine and keep you all posted. Keep in mind that this will cost over $10,000 USD so thats something to be said as well, its not cheap!
The tests in this video were both done on same size k2 paragliders and both pilots were within 15 pounds of each other.
